What sticks out to me the most about this book?

I went into this book expecting to be lost the whole time, because in my mind, you only read Tolstoy for the bragging rights. I tried to read a different translation a little earlier in the year and found myself dragging through the first few chapters. It wasn’t until I was leaving for vacation and ended up stuck in an airport for five hours that I was able to really dive into the meat and potatoes of the story.

I wasn’t expecting the spiritual contemplation, the politics of farming, and a realistic love triangle.
